Devo Day 14: The mission of Submission
The thing is: God wants your submission over your actions.
“But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.””
1 Samuel 15:22-23 NLT
Rebellion doesn’t start as a disobedient act, it starts as a single thought “How Can I serve God better?”
Absolum probably thought he was right when simply mentioning what he would do different as king. But this lead to him causing a rebellion with in the kingdom.
Your ability to submit to God or not will help determine the amount of unity with in the kingdom of God.
There is nothing better than serving God exactly how He asked you too.
Serving God is doing what he asks when he asks and developing the ability to know Him so well you can anticipate what he wants to do.
Keys to make sure you are doing what He wants:
Does is line up with Scripture?
Have you searched the scriptures about the ways of God?
If you don’t know his ways you won’t know if he is speaking to you or not
Has God confirmed it with others?
If there is a movement of God then it’s a movement in His body not just you.
It all comes from the same source
Have you taken steps to immediately listen?
God wants you to have faith to take the step the first time.
Delayed obedience is still disobedience.
